About McIntosh high-end audio Products
McIntosh is a high-end audio and front panel equipment manufacturing company. It is based in Binghamton, New York. The company was founded by Frank McIntosh in the year 1949. They are known for their amplifier manufacturing. Frank McIntosh along with Gordon Gow designed a high power amplifier. This was his first patented circuit and still this is used in current products. In the year 1950 Gordon Gow became the Executive Vice President of McIntosh. They launched the first preamplifier AE1. As the company’s growth gradually increased the need for more space was needed. So the company was moved to a nearby location to its current location. The product manufactured includes amplifiers, stereo systems, loudspeakers, and control systems.
The first McIntosh AM/FM tuner was made known in the year 1957. This lead to the first audio source component that was recognized and McIntosh became the leader in radio tuner design. In 1962 Dave O’Brien joined McIntosh. For the next 30 years he led the McIntosh Company. In the famous 1969 Woodstock music festival amplifiers of McIntosh were used. The loudspeakers of McIntosh gained popularity during the course of the decade. In the year 1977 Gordon Gow became the President while Frank McIntosh retired.
